Massage Therapy FAQs in Jacksonville, FL

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Who Is a Good Candidate for Sports Therapy?

Sports massage is designed for the active individual or everyday athlete who wants to perform their best. Whether you’re training for competition, hitting the gym, running local races, or simply staying active to support your lifestyle, sports massage helps address performance concerns such as muscle tightness, reduced mobility, and limited range of motion. It’s ideal for anyone who wants to move better, recover faster, and feel stronger in their body.

  • How Are Sessions Structured?

Every appointment begins with an assessment to identify key areas of tension, imbalance, or restricted mobility. From there, you’ll receive targeted manual therapy that incorporates a variety of modalities (such as myofascial release, IASTM, stretching, and mobility techniques). Please note, these sessions are focused and performance-driven rather than full-body massages. Each treatment is designed to address the specific areas that will make the biggest impact for you. Sessions conclude with a follow-up plan consisting of specific strategies to extend and maintain results between visits.

  • What Do I Wear to My Appointment?

Please wear comfortable, form-fitting athletic clothing such as briefs, bike shorts, sports bras, minimal-coverage bottoms like athletic briefs or performance thongs, fitted tank tops, etc. Avoid long-sleeved tops and full-length bottoms. This allows for easy movement assessment and access to key muscle groups. Please avoid bulky or loose-fitting clothing, as it can restrict movement and make certain techniques less accessible.

  • Before Your Session

Please complete any necessary intake forms prior to your session. Avoid heavy meals immediately beforehand, but be sure you’re well-hydrated. Wear athletic clothing. If this is your first session, come prepared to discuss your activity level, training goals, and any performance issues, tightness, or discomfort you’ve been experiencing. The more information you share, the more tailored and effective your session will be.

  • Can I Hire You for Events?

For event bookings, on-site sports massage, or team support services, please send inquiries to hello@fullerperformancerecovery.com. Please include event details, scheduling, and specific needs.

  • After Your Session

Following your session, you may experience a combination of relief, increased mobility, and/or mild muscle soreness, particularly if deeper techniques were used. Light bruising may be present if IASTM techniques were part of your session. Stay hydrated to support recovery. Your follow-up plan may include myofascial rolling, stretches, mobility drills, and/or self-care techniques to help extend your results and keep you moving at your best.

  • Do I need a referral?

No. You can book directly on the Booking page.

If you are being referred to massage by your chiropractor, physical therapist, or another healthcare provider, please upload or include any relevant notes or recommendations in your intake form. This helps ensure your session is tailored appropriately to your treatment plan.

  • How long do results last?

That depends on your lifestyle, activity level, and how long you have had the issue. The best results come from consistent sessions plus corrective exercise and mobility work.
